Has anyone used the Solas 4 blade SS impeller in their 175 Sportjet. I have talked to a couple of guy's that have bought on from Merc but it is very expensive compared to Solas. |

to answer your question I have tried the solas impeller and found that it is not as good a 4 blade stock it was not as fast out of the hole and top end was slower by 2 mphr mid range was good maybe just a little better than stock but not much and this was on a 200 opiti max
if you want good mid range just build up your 3 blade until the rpm's come down a little ,like 50 rpm then that will be the best
beleave me when I say I have tried it all

shallowman: When you say build up the impeller do you extend the trailing edge to hold the water longer like we did on the Burkley pumps |

Yes that is correct I had it built up almost quarter of a inch before it started to bring the rev's down now my rpm is 50 below stock and mid range is much faster for the same rpm then before and just alittle on top end
I know a fellow who owns a 16 lynx and he claims 3 mpr in mid range with a 3/16 build up with a 240 hp
