Used to own a Piper PA-12 Taildragger and really liked the stick control, so yes have it in the boat also and think it will be good.

I too used to own a Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser. Tore up the skies for about 5 years with that thing. Loved it. Sure wish I had back today. Sorry back on topic. Very Happy

Dano, your right, nothing like a super cruiser for a pure seat of the pants flying experience! Unfortunately I crashed and destroyed mine when I hit a VERY low cable trying to land on a gravel bar on Rogue River LOL!
Started the new CT525 engine day before yesterday, sounds SWEET!
Doing some calibration on the new touch screen instument panel for the next few days really like it's features and capabilities. I wear reading glasses and can't see poop close up, with this panel I can choose the data I want to monitor and change the size and style of the readout, think it will be nice!

I can't wait to hear how the stick steering worked, how the exhaust manifolds worked, how it flew, how well it turns, just everything I guess!!! I am in awe of this whole effort.

Ran the boat yesterday for first time and overall happy with the results, but have a long way to go! None of the weird things happened that I sometimes worried about, keep in mind I started working on this project 2 years ago so been lots of time to think and question my theroy!
This thing gets on plane instantly and accelerates very fast.
Probably ran it for 30 minutes and found no problem with the manifolds (quite is nice at my age) much longer wide open runs and time will be an additional test they need to withstand so we'll see.
Stick steering was just right force required, very positive and awesome but as I wedged up force increased probably beyond an acceptical level, haven't figured that one out yet! Your thoughts are welcome!
Turning was very positive and controlable nothing weird, no hopping, grabing, sliding.
One of my biggest fears was the possibility I would have too much lift at high speed, wouldn't you know it, quite the opposite! Couldn't get the d___ thing to lift. I think the problem is in my intake and IF I'm right will be easy to fix, also was 400-500 RPM'S of of where it needs to be but only had one impeller. Shit only slightly over a month before this thing needs to head north, better get busy huh!

Lift? Looking at this design it appears you would have all kinds of weight(at least 450#'s) sitting on the nose of the boat when driver and navigator are in it...

Lift comes from hull design and how one manages air around the boat. Once that boats dialed in it will lift lots, keep up the good work Greg

(where's the driver of an F-1 boat sit?)

an F1 pilot is out front because having a prop drive they can still get as much hull out of the water as they have the balls for.

Yup, cause they are extremely efficient hulls and they lift!

400-500 more rpm will get you more speed = more lift, correct?
