So I have been spending this winter trying to track down my oil leak. I thought it was the valley between the Intake manifold and Block. So I got some new gaskets and reSealed my intake. No leak there...but now I am BLOWING (looks like Old Faithfull) oil out the Breather Cap when ever I run the motor over 4200RPM.

I suspect I am buildling to much exhaust back pressure but I wanted to get some opinions. Here is my setup:

Custom built SBC 383 with a CompCam Marine Camshaft.
4" Kodiak Exhaust running into a Outlaw Exhaust Collector
Dual 2.5" Exhaust out of the Transom.

Thoughts????

Being a mechanic by trade heres my 2 cents...Oil out the breather cap can come from oil being thrown off the rocker arms at higher rpms if you dont have tall v-covers or a splash baffle in your valve covers.Another way to reduce this oil mess is put a pcv(positive crank case ventilation system in, to pull off some of the pressure to reduce this problem.I run a blown smallblock chev and at higher rpms, with a pcv system,i get very little oil out my breathers...try these things and happy RPM,S...

I always run a pcv system and it really keeps the oil under control.

Sorry I Digress,
If your Description is ACCURATE: "but now I am BLOWING (looks like Old Faithful) oil out the Breather Cap" After your manifold reseal
Then you obviously have a lot of pressure in the crankcase and the most likely reason, Broken Rings or a hole in a piston.

Exhaust back pressure would not make a difference to the crankcase, That would simply impede cylinder filling on the intake stroke.

The simplest thing to do is a compression test.

if the description was a loss of rpm, fouled plug,or plugs,or smoke out the breather....then you have ring or piston hole problem..not alot of brains maybe rum... to to talk out your BEEP..how about a leakdown test...better than compression test..also tells you where your problem is..intake or exhaust or crankcase..also check to see if your oil dip stick is getting pushed out.

HEY Dogy. The rest of the guys on the forum are obviously too well manered to tell you, I am surprized you parents did not let you know either... YOU ARE A F*#%IN' MORON.
I am not even going to waste the time to try and explain how there are way more variables on how oil can exit valve cover breathers.

PS. I am starting to see your future...
