Got a uhmw wear ring from you last summer, and just wondering if you can re machine to a larger size and build up a new impeller, only got about 15- 20 hours, and great performance disappeared. |

I am amazed that it is worn with so little hrs on it. What type of running were you doing? It can be recut no problem and the impeller built up. _________________ Right on Jesse, we got 256 rocks so far. Only 50 million more to go!!!!!! |

Not doing anything out of the norm, typical northern bc rivers(gravel and rock everywhere)in the fall. To be completely honest tried to baby this thing more then usual, and the hour estimation on the wear ring is being fairly generous. Was told about these wear rings and should have listened, could have got 3 re&re stainless wear rings for the same price. |

interesting. Is alot of the rock that you run in shale? In silty water the uhmw wear rings outlast the stainless 10 to 1 _________________ Right on Jesse, we got 256 rocks so far. Only 50 million more to go!!!!!! |

Mine didn't last that long either. Running in the Wapiti and Smokey, more hours in the Fraser then anything else though. Maybe did 30hrs last summer, grooved up pretty good with a high skew impeller. |

Some grooves are normal but its the total clearance that makes it work. The stainless ones work but it is just that you cannot set them to very tight clearances. o well to each there own as long as we are boating. _________________ Right on Jesse, we got 256 rocks so far. So what would the normal clearance be? I realize that some grooving is normal, looks as though I have about a credit cards depth of clearance. I also think that as time goes on the performance becomes normal and you seem to think that it is loosing power when it really isn't.
I am still not cavitating like I was before the change but I also put in a High Skew and am not sure which has fixed that.
I am in no way saying that they suck bad but want a little more info.
To have it bored and leading edges built up is about $400 not sure what a ss ring is worth but that doesn't seem to bad to me. Maybe a guy should have done one thing at a time to get a little more info on how it stands up.
I don't think I made a bad decision and will run this till it starts to cavitate and go from there. |

New they are setup at about .003. We have found that the one end will wear a little but the other seems to hold its clearance. Usually after 5 hrs we see about .010 clearance depending on the usage. _________________ Right on Jesse, we got 256 rocks so far. Only 50 million more to go!!!!!! |

Would the wear be on the out put side? This seems to be the end that wore on me. The rest looks fairly tight still. |

I found the same thing as mountainman. Most of my boating is in gravel and the plastic is not standing up as good as the stainless.
The impeller has to be built up before the leading edges get very worn.
Great guys but I'm not sure of the product application where I boat.
I will be selling mine in the spring if anyone wants it. _________________ Did anybody see that rock? |

Hi guy's I have heard these comments many times and every time that somebody goes back to a stainless the first thing they tell me is can you put back in a plastic wear ring as we can't get out of the hole like we used to ,so I think that the uhmw is better I believe like one person said I think we tend to forget how bad the stainless is as far as performance goes I also think that if you run gravel bars like you mention maybe your impeller needs to be sharpened as no one has put these wear rings thru the test like I did
but comments are always good

I would like to have both on hand and switch from the stainless to the UWHM and do a comparison of the performance. Of course though I am too cheap to go buy a new wear ring housing to just do that. |
