Pizza....
There's only one place... Boston Pizza, the food's good, but like everything else here, the service sucks....

Beer's good though, too bad the river's full of Hard Water right now, cause it tastes alot better in the boat....

Need a good Chicago style pizza 20 min for your pizza I have my side business for a pizza kitchen and was looking at the Sands project for maybe full time work transplanting the whole family.

I've spent a fair bit of time working up there....lot's of money too be made.BUT, also VERY expensive.The average mobile home on a rented lot can go for $400,000.00+. Shocked

I've got a few friends that live up there and most of them are just there for the work.It was a lot nicer 5 yrs ago IMO, but it just grew too big,too fast.Be sure to look into all the cost's of setting up there.....I think you'll be surprised.But like I said earlier....good money to be had.-A2[/b]

I have a App in with the Sands Its a good thing I have a Toybox Camper its a major undertaking a move like that.Thats pretty scary that the cost of living there I thought would be alot cheeper 400K will buy you some nice diggs around here your pretty much captive to the local greed.

You might want to do a bit of homework before moving your toy-box up here first.
I've lived here in fort mac for over 40 yrs and I understand that finding a lot to park on is next to impossible, and that's not even talking about the cash grabbing, money hungry camp site owners that are operating up here. They are aloud to charge ridicules amounts of rent up here...

You might want to take a week and come up here to check things out before you make the big decision. I would never tell someone "Not" to come up here, but someone that is looking at moving a family up here and starting from scratch concerns me...

I haven't boated it yet......but it looks awesome from the air.Two river's right close to town(Athabasca & Clearwater) The Clearwater is suppose to be a pretty sweet ride and take's you to the Sask border. And the other one leads right to Lake Athabasca or the bottom of Grand Rapids.....It's definitely on the TO-DO list.

One the things todo list before up rooting and moving a household wife kids and dogs and 3 boats and pizza oven and kitchen 20x30 shop with tools. I am sure that the cost of living is plus of what Chicago is I am waiting to hear from the HR before I make any move

We spend most of our time on the Clearwater...
The Athabasca, never really turned my crank all that much.

I usually stick west of the Cascade Rapids, as the top end is pretty good for modifying the bottom of your boat... Sad

They say,it is impossible to make it right to the Sask border, If anyone wants to give'r a go...Let me know. I would love to walk up and take pictures of someone trying to go through Whitemud Falls....

I've been to the falls a few times...never without lightening my hull! Last trip 3 out of 4 boats took serious hits causing alignment issues, hooked hulls and moved fuel tanks! It is an awesome trip and the scenery is amazing...just a little hard on the nerves. Best done with a little liquid courage!

...and definitely in the spring....asshole rock should be underwater if you are going to try this run for the first time!
