Looking into buying a new boat and just wondering what kind of differences there are between the American Turbine 309 & 312. Is it worth the upgrade.

Looking to buy a 20' Clearwater W/ 5.7 liter.

The boat would be an all around boat used on Larger rivers, lakes for fishing and just cruising. It may be used once or twice a year hunting up north.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

"most" of the Clearwater's we build are optioned with the Hamilton jet upgrade. While we can build with an AT pump(and in fact the base boat is offered as such) we more often see an axial flow type pump installed in a boat which is bigger and has more potential to be loaded down with people and cargo.

Hamilton pumps are affected less by loading and, by nature of pumping nearly twice the water an AT pump does, will get on plane faster, handle better and lift more weight.

Of all the Clearwater's and Muskwa's currently in our inventory all have Hamilton pumps. ( currently 2.5 Muskwa's in stock and 2 Clearwater's)

Of course we do also offer the 312 option and it will flow more water than a 309 while still retaining the same format as the typical mixed flow pump. In some cases that can be signifigant if one wishes to have power trim as they will accept traditional AT trim units(which the Hamiltons will not). The 312 is also about half the upgrade cost VS. a Hamilton and will also perform better in terms of top speed, like most mixed flow pumps.

Hopefully this offers some insight.

Cheers
