|
|
Just letting the users of our forum know I am performing some maintenance over the next few days which should hopefully really clean up the member list.
The forum has grown to have over 4000 members, sadly less than half of these are legitimate. For this reason I have installed some new features today that will hopefully eliminate the annoying BOTS from registering on an ongoing basis. There were 128 fake registrations over the long weekend alone!
I AM purging out the bogus registrations cluttering up the member list and basically anyone who has NOT been activated will be deleted. I do apologize if there are any legit members who inadvertently get deleted here but seeing as I am only deleting inactive members(meaning ones who do not have permission to post) I do not see this as being a big problem.
Please contact me by email or phone if you have any unusual problems over the next few days altho I do not see this being likely
Thanks everyone

Just to let everyone know the maintenance is complete and if you browse our member list now you'll notice all the BOTs have been removed and we're down to our "real" members again. Believe it or not there were over 3400 fake "users" in there
A few downloads and I was able to delete them 200 at a time. Sure beats the old way of one at a time lol I did have to scan through them to pick out the odd one that was in fact legit.
Anyway not a single BOT has registered since the new features were installed so hopefully, for the time being anyway, this will keep the forum alot cleaner for everyone. The member list had become so cluttered it was completely useless to find anyone
again if anyone has encountered any issues logging in etc please contact me directly,
Thanks

After deleting a bazzilion users on my forum, I have seen those drug names enough to actually be able to spell them.

Whoa! Cool, your board also zapped those common erectile dysfunction drug names from the subject line!!!
(erectile dysfunction in Canada is when you spill bear on a woody.) _________________ -Jesse |

Haha yea I added the "V" word to the banned word list to kill a good number of names I was seeing. That company should be sued for the damage they cause worldwide with spam advertising their product.
Im sure you know Jesse but that special question in the registration process is working SOOO nice I have not had a single BOT registration since I added it. Wow its so nice to come to work and only have 5-10 emails to surf through instead of 30-50
next I will tackle the issue of how pictures post differently in the RED/Black forum
