Maybe someone could tell me why the inforcement the last day.I only attended the whitecourt part of the race . Just confused why it was a issue the last day. Thanks latter |

UIM rules do not allow smoking or drinking in the pits but due to the nature of the area's and proximity to camping and spectators there was an issue raised by the UIM rep. It was only really an issue in Whitecourt and thats about all I know. Teams were encouraged to block of their pit area to control access if they felt they could not keep fans/smokers/drinkers away from their boats etc

Sorry what do you mean. There was/is no smoking allowed at any of the races in the pits. Maybe they started to have problems with some people figuring that ment for everyone else. Do you think that anyone would try and smoke around a race boat that has fuel tank vents? Sorry dumb question _________________ Right on Jesse, we got 256 rocks so far. All I know is there is no smoking/drinking in the pit area's and thats what they were encouraging the racers to enforce, putting up barriers if needed.
One racer was penalized for smoking in the boat, and the navigator having his helmet off while the boat was in motion/on step.
There are sometimes strict rules in place which may seem harsh but to maintain insurance from sanctioning bodies they are very necessary and exceptions cannot be made

Hines;
The no smoking or drinking rule in the pit areas was in effect from day one at all three locations.
I'm sure I don't need to tell "you" that it was almost impossible to police.
Cheers, and say hello to Gary R for me He is one super guy!

Yeah, I knew that.
But would you believe that some were smoking while leaning on a fuel drum. Go figure eh!
Some were smoking with what could be described as a "head" in the bilge!
Cheers,

At work I do not allow smoking in the building so they smoke out side the door. They flick there finished smokes over top of a fuel tank through a chainlink fence. When I tell them how dangerous that is they just look at me like I am stupid or something. _________________ Right on Jesse, we got 256 rocks so far. Only 50 million more to go!!!!!! |

Emery, you'd probably agree, I was guilty of doing a little smoking in the pit area (read: brain stress) just before race day. ha ha
Anyhow, good on ya, and thanks for putting up with it. |
