Just been reading all of the threads regarding our FX class in the worlds on all the different forums, there are alot of eyes watching now for sure.
I just wanted to remind all the guys and gals that raced in the worlds to follow through and send Louie Bossio at AMS a letter with your thoughts on tech and this years engine rules as he asked us all to do. We should also send copies of these letters to the race committee, as we as the people that race the FX class right now will have alot of say in how the specs on the engines will stay or go. This is going to be a huge class in the future years as this worlds proved, I think that was just the start. I have been around racing long enough now to watch engine specs change in the different classes and it gets discouraging when you build an engine and then the rules change every year even if it is ever so slightly. I myself commend the committee that made the hard decision to set the rules on the motors as they did. You can't always make everyone happy, but from talking to the other captains I feel everyone was content with the engine rules as they were and there was no need to wonder about " the next guy" with the sporadic engine testing. I spent the better part of a day with my little zz4 on a dyno and you have to work pretty hard to get the last few ponies out of it, the changing of the intake for one was worth a few foot pounds of torque. Already I have read in one of the threads someone wants to go back to the stock intake, after the majority of the boats have changed them. This is why I ask all captains in the class to sit down and right down your thoughts and send them to Louie and to the committee as was asked of us by Louie himself on the last day of the worlds. I will post his mailing address and if someone could come up with an address for Brian McGregor, send a copy to him also. Let your opinions and voices be heard now while the class is still in it's relative infancy, other countries are watching and reviewing there own rules after watching how well are class worked at this years worlds. My 2 cents, Thanks.

I agree with Neutered on this one, any comments on improvements, likes and dislikes should be sent in by the FX crews to Louie. It is in our best interest to do this so we can keep the teams running affordably! Moving into another class is out of the question at this point, unless the claimer c-class came into play again. The competition in FX was awesome, best bunch of guys out there! Your closest competitors were also the ones you could borrow parts from as well as lend parts to. Knowing the engines were all being teched as close as they were made for no controversy over engines at all. Fastest boat was completely stock, no air gap manifold, but it was tuned to run by lots of hard work and hours of testing time. The family guys know what kind of commitment is needed by not only the race team, but the whole family. My kids are 6 and 3 and spent more than a few evenings out in the shop with dad this winter. Boat 69 and 77 had the whole brood out in force and everyone was having a blast! This is all because it is more affordable for these guys to race in this class. Gives a guy incentive to try a few new ideas to get the hull working better. That can be done more affordably than purchasing more horsepower, and if the idea doesn't work, cut it off! You may have wasted some time, but not many racers count their time anyway or we would all quit!

Watching the FX race has made me ponder about selling my sport boat and buying a tunnel to race next year. My vote is to leave it as is; ZZ4 Crate engine. If we start allowing changes, where does it stop? Allowing different rods, pistons etc just opens the door for cheating. C Class used to be the entry level class and that has gotten out of my reach for now. Anybody want to buy a 19' Sport!? Trade for a light weight tunnel?

Yes leave as ZZ4 crate eng. Let the factory make the changes . Iam strongly thinking of this class myself.Lots of competion here & lots more driving skills than I have at least in a boat.I think theirs lots of fun to be had also the 16 year old can come along i think it might be better then some of the shit on the streets these days. have a great day / just heading out with Garry Rabbis on the Red Deer 4 a rip latter.

2007 Worlds FX was a blast for sure Very Happy and not having to thrash on the engine was a plus as well . It was nice to see three different hulls finishing 123 . Especially liked McGregors boat , be nice to see a couple more like that pulled out of the shed . I still think the class should be called ZZ4 if that is the only engine allowed and that FX should allow built engines. While it's quite amazing the speed the lightweight winged boats are hitting with the ZZ4 , a U.S. FX engine with a cam change and a set of roller rockers would be reliable and provide a lot bigger grin Mr. Green for the buck. If anybody else thinks so build it and come out and we can race in C class Cool
