Up the Smokey at first big water saw 3 blowouts and one sunk boat. Bummer for the boat hopefully recoverable. Another awesome day watching. Again thanks for the entertainment.

Yes the Smokey leg lived up to expectations!

From what I know:

Gil G from Mexico sank at some point in the course upstream leg. Not alot of details on this, hopefully all is well but we saw no sign of a boat at all.

Kevin L hit hard, damaged wings and punched in the underside of the Stoker Hard enough to also bend the top deck. He made it in and also made the return leg. Boat is fixable.

Jesse F also bent the hull and from what I hear toasted a motor and was out despite making it to the end of the upstream leg. He was gone when we arrived.

Boats spotted on the bank by us included the fluorescent orange Mexican boat, the yellow boat with tribal green striping(Miss Magoo?) and we passed Rob Pooley paddeling early in the leg.

Doug R scared us by passing us late in the leg but also made it in.

Aquaholic ran using their backup engine and made both legs.

SJ class ran and we again found ourselves not able to keep up with the 17 footers. Luckily they both took a wrong channel and we made a Uturn faster than they did to briefly take the lead. Bob H passed us a short while later but the Aussie boat had spark issues and fell back considerably

Downstream we barely made it on step due to a broken trim tab and the Dingo boat DNS due to electrical problems. We're going to hook up with the Aussies and see if we can lend them a spare computer or sensors to get them going again

Today was particularly rough on boats and I'm sure the bodies. High winds played havoc and the rapids really kicked some people around. A fair number of boats damaged bow wings. Definitely should be some awesome video captured!

More to come after we find out whats what in the bars!

Cheers

Jesse Foster/Mark Rodacker (Miss 'B' Havin - B class) are up and running again after a motor change Sunday night and made it in time to start the return leg of the Grande Prairie to Smokey Flats run. Everything's running good. We're all bagged but happy to be up and going again. We're good to go for the rest. Yee Haa! , that's racing!
