A2,
I once figured I would try to "Take any slack out" of my steering cables by adjusting the nuts and tubes that anchored the cables going through the transom. Didn't work worth a shite as what happened is I ended up putting too much outside tension on the cable and it got real stiff. This was from adjusting the cable sheath inwards, which was the same thing as making the outer sheath longer without lengthening the center cable. I reversed my thinking, switched back to beer and adjusted the tube and nuts the other way, effectively pulling on the outer sheath rather than pushing on it and my steering got much looser and easy to operate. My steering is a dual cable set up, but they all use the same principle of a cable within a sheath, kinda like coax cable with a moving center conductor. try adjusting that a few times in both directions to see if that may help. Mark your original position though so you can return there if needed. My $.02 anyway! _________________ It was like that when I got there! |

Here's where I'm at.....I am concentrating on that sleeve through the transom and have used a pipe cleaning brush to rid all the old lube.I wiped the NEW cable clean and sprayed everything down with fluid film.(Lube in a can)it's very slippery and I can feel the difference already.I am going out in a couple of hours to try it out.........stay tuned. |

Now I'm confused, I spent the weekend at a lake and my steering was nice and loose and no tight spots WTF? Maybe in the river, the silt is messin' with the bushings and pins cause it's tight when going both up and down stream. Hmmmm, I'll have to have a beer and think about that one for a while. |

Ya. I didn't know you could talk like that. I was sure the only words you knew started with "F" or "C" _________________ Life is Great. It's Reality that Sucks! |
