Spent a couple hours on the Red Deer river near town picking up garbage from our local floaters with no sense of social conscience
I bet we only managed to retrieve 1% of what was spent

That is unreal!!! I'd hate to see what would happen to those guys up here if some of the guys I know caught them doing that
Irresponsible ltttle b*st*rds!!!
Doesn't Fish and Feathers have a boat in Red Deer now? They may want to have the RCMP tag along for a day or two when those retards are on the water. |

Hopefully at some level it has an impact on people's sense of conscience when you circle completely around them picking up their garbage as they float .......HOPEFULLY! _________________ 17' Firefish Frenzy, 200 opti, 8 degree rock chewin' bottom. Fishin' Extreme

Too bad one doesn't know where these people live. It would be only fair if you could go and dump all that stuff in their living room, backyard or (even better), their swimming pool. _________________ Wisdom chases me, but I´m faster |

Good to see you out there picking up after these morons. I have seen this type of crap get worse every year. Them young azzholes just don't get it. They don't respect any thing. I have stopped and talked to several groups of floaters about their litter. It turns into a swear fest and they throw full cans of beer at and in my boat. The cops can't do dick, it appears. What floater has ID on them? They need to be sunk. |

Yeh, Baldy, I found the same response from many of them. Eventually I succumbed to merely running around them picking the cans, bottles, garbage up as they dumped them. I can't help but wonder what role these individuals are playing in our world ?? _________________ 17' Firefish Frenzy, 200 opti, 8 degree rock chewin' bottom. Fishin' Extreme

I don't know the answer to this problem but it is a huge issue with me. I don't understand what they are thinking when they toss their cans and bottles. Who raised these piece of shiete kids to have such little respect. I'm all for seeing the cops out there on hot days taking away their booze before they toss it. I'd even help pack out all the confiscated beers. |

Hmmm now if they are tossing you full beers not a bad thing Throwing things is endangering you and everybody in your boat! If you could follow them ad get a plate # then go to the cops with that they would do something. A video camera would help a whole bunch too!!!
Reminds me a bunch about a certain flyfishing thread |

Clearly PART of the reason for dumping the cans is to get rid of the evidence before getting back on the road and endangering everyones lives there. I believe that the RC's need to establish a very clear line here, inevitably people are going to partake on the river but when it comes to litter........kick their ass hard.
Everyone that I see that lands their floaty craft here at Burbank gets a stern lecture about bringing their refuse with them when they arrive...........or they can just keep fu#@#$*(g floating ! _________________ 17' Firefish Frenzy, 200 opti, 8 degree rock chewin' bottom. Fishin' Extreme

The fly-fishing forum may no longer exist, however the attitude and
threats still exist. I have a video posted on you-tube and the last
response was from one of these fellow river users. He clearly let me
know how he feels about my boat, the threat made will make me
think twice about taking my kids for a ride next time. Good job Skinny,
last year I carted out several bags of litter myself. It disgusts me to no
end how disrespectful some river users are of each other and especially
of the river. |

Find out where he fishes....I will make a point to go there and see what he has to offer .I was on a busy river last W/E and had nothing but big Waves and paddle's in the air.I can see how some fisherman would walk out 1/2 way and figure it's there river 50' either side of them and back to the shore but come on.The threats have to be addressed and resolved so everyone can enjoy the water while we're still here. |

Yeh they even had your video, complete with discussion, posted on their forum for a while. You were famous , and it gave me several more opportunities to view the vid (great vid BTW) .
I guess that it still boils down to the fact that every person has a different level of what they consider to be irresponsible behavior and that's why it's an issue without end.
On a positive note:
I had a group of floaters land at our campground today whom I immediately addressed to find out whether they had brought their garbage to the end of their journey. They confidently said yes and proceeded to show me the rest of the miscellanious trash that they also picked up along the way. I congratulated them thoroughly for being a positive representation to their peers . _________________ 17' Firefish Frenzy, 200 opti, 8 degree rock chewin' bottom. Fishin' Extreme

I never looked at their forum after that initial thread died down. I'm not so sure about the famous thing either. Thanks for the compliment on the video, that was the very first and so far only attempt I have made. I'm not all that comfortable on these computers.
Great to hear a positive note on some of the rafters that landed at your place. I only wish more river users had that respect. |
