PLACINGS
OVERALL AND IDAHO CUP #211 Riptear (O'Keefe/Hoisington) Note of interest. This is the hull that Chandler (he called it the Idaho boat even) won the Idaho Cup with TWICE previously.
"A" Class
#211 Riptear (O'Keefe/Hoisington)
#277 Unpredictable (Bagshaw/Soule)
Run 6 on Saturday was a DNS. Actually he started but only got about .3 of a mile. Jesel exhaust rocker failed at the adjuster. Put it on a slight (8-10) "beach" of sand.
#169A Liquifire (Miller/? it wasn't H Sargent)
"B" Class
#169 Liquifire (Longfellows)
#163 Tuff n' Nuff (Labrums)
FXBB
#69 Addicted (Heath/Dyer)
#42 Thunderbolt 2 (Bradley/Tilley)
#55 Revelation (Carmont/? ---Jeeshs-one day and I forgot his name -fellow Kiwi though)
FXSB
#19 Red Bird (Egbers/Hamburg)
#07 Hasta la Vista (Boice/? CRS- I even lent him my extra fire resistant clothes and a life jacket)
#15 Footloose (Pabst/Drew)
SJ
#63 ItsWorthItTwo (Crawfords)
#05 Totally Wicked (Edwards/Bell)
#08 Baby Bud (Weaver/Scott)
And as Jesse says "more to follow"
It was a late night getting home and lots of work today. I'll get more posted as I can and as my thoughts gel and coalesce. It was a wild weekend full of wild images (some quite serious and heartrending). Some I only know about second/third hand so will try and get something down even if it's not quite right. Eye witnesses are enjoined and welcomed to join in and correct. PLEASE!

Stream of consciousness thoughts /impressions–may be somewhat disjointed…….
Friday prerunning / test and tune / boat show
The Salmon at 11,000cfs is ROUGH. Water is busy. Full of green rollers. Mill Wave has a line of rollers right in the middle. Water moving in two different directions. Makes kind of diamond shaped rollers. Real easy to spin out. Mill Wave is a tighter than 90 degree corner. The line of the channel is full of whitewater rapids-only a few feet from a very harsh rocky left bank. It is also the very long way around. The line at the drop at the confluence is quite apparent-just rough. Then you have to bang your way through the Motel Rapid-which I consider to be the roughest, worst, just take your licks in the rough and hope to come through the other side water on the river-no line through-just go in and hang on-with the throttle feathered. (Time Zone is much easier to make time through IMO.) Rock Garden Rapid just below 911 Rock is shallow-don’t want to get out too far to the right, then you are in huge standing rapid on the channel line leading to Glass Wave-kind of a tight rope, if you want to make any time. Then Glass Wave is chock full of 3-4 foot green rollers. Going two different directions. Lots of options, but some are not very fast. Going into Glass Wave from either direction you CAN NOT see the green rollers until you are almost in them. If you are carrying too much speed you become a launch vehicle…..and what goes up must come down. Survive Glass Wave and its an immediate 90 degree into the Race Creek Rapids. The middle is big, rough whitecapping, irregular green water. The best (?)line---leave a boat width of water off the right bank-still quite rough-with lots of very large black hard rocks just on the right, lurking just at the surface-and just under. Now cut left- but avoid the rock bar on the left- and you are on approach to Time Zone. ROUGH line down the left bank-then see the monster standing rapids in the middle of Upper time Zone and be glad you are just in a rough but doable line. Look for the “slot”, turn right and dart through. Wick it up, turn slightly left as you go under the bridge and breath again. 3 breaths and then you are on top of the drop at Tight Squeeze. Take it into the “tongue” dart left about halfway down, slip by the 15 foot boulder on your immediate left, all the while trying to avoid looking directly at the boulder…..and now move left of the wave train in the middle and try to get as close to the left bank as possible while getting bounced for the next quarter of a mile. Slip around the 25 foot boulder on the left at waters edge-sticks out quite a ways, and you are in the clear! Breathe regular and look for the finish. It’s got to be here SOMEWHERE within the next mile or so-it is at least smooth now…… one more hop across a rough spot and its over.
Lots of folks needed to “see” the river. It looks a lot different from a boat than it does from the road above. Paul Bagshaw and Rob Soule (#277 Unpredictable) were shaking their heads and talking about maybe slowing down. Rob loves this river ----NOT!!! Many had never been here as racers before. Terry O’Keefe (#211 Riptear) was raised in Lewiston and grew up around jetboats on the Salmon and the Snake, but its way different at 90+. Guy Anderson (#234 Fluid Drive) had never had his boat to speed on a whitewater river. Pretty anxious crew-doubting their sanity. Mike Egbers (#19 Red Bird) was fairly confident of the Kwik Kraft hull to get through, but was surprised several times by where “things” were in the river. Mostly the rocks and green rollers….

Sorry about the no times yet. Race organizers have been out since the awards ceremony was over on Sunday until dark trying to get a spot on the sunk SJ. Were on and in the water all day Monday looking. Divers have now cordoned off a grid zone and will spend the day looking today. Plan is to fax ME the time sheets and I will try and get it done and posted within the next 24 hours.
In a very small town everybody has to wear lots of hats....

Good to hear the updates Gary keep em coming. I can't imagine how it feels to have an empty trailer at the end of this event. I do know one thing for sure if anyone will bend over backwards to find that boat its Rich and Kim. You won't meet nicer people anywhere.
Good luck and keep us posted with the latest info.
If I was closer I'd be down there helping if I could.
Cheers
