Does anyone have a problem with there rooster tail, with a berkley jet and race nozzle? Water still turning as it comes out of nozzle? Even with a splitter. I noticed a few race boats in Whitecourt with a funky rooster,(funky compared to american turbine). Would like to know if anyone has a solution to this as gotta be loosing some speed there. thanks

I have used both American Turbine and Berkley bowls with no measurable difference. I had also welded a splitter in the nozzle as I though reducing the swirl would gain me some speed but it also did nothing. These test were performed at around 100 to 105 mph.

Thanks for the input Dawg, I am not quite at those speeds and probably never will be, started around 74 (72 without race nozzle), had 74 without splitter, welded one in and gained 1 mph, but water still turning, so I am thinking I would gain even more if I could totally get rid of the swirl. Makes sence to me. Dawg u running american turbine or berkley in the Pearl?

How much swirl are you seeing?
5 degrees swirl would still give you 99.5% thrust
10 degrees swirl would still give you 98.5% thrust
but 20 degrees swirl would put you down to 94% thrust

Buella, you have to run the octo-blade.

Hey max it is Buellit not Buella, and ya u let the cat out of the bag, as we solved the problem with the Octo- Blade. Good thing it worked or the Octo-Bortion name would of stuck. Anyways I did want to know what other people have tried. Splitter just doesnt do enough. Gained 1.5 mph with the octo blade, now have to wedge down as rooster is at least ten feet higher. And should gain even more I would think. Season is almost over I guess but would be cool to see if this works on a race boat. Trying to post more pics, not sure if it will work or not. Not much luck with pics on this site. Not the same angle as last picture but trust me there is no more split tail.
