Well, in later years there was a shallow ski tower attached to the top of the transom of that boat, which pulled a number of hockey celebrities (legends).
I have that tower on my boat.
My only regret is that there are no signatures on it.
Maybe a little DNA

It looks to me to be an oil cooler. But, because this is racing, it's more than likely some sonic ignition disruptor, aimed to take out any competitor that may get in front of you, only disguised as an oil cooler.

If I remember right that was an oil cooler, but there was also some talk about that boat using fuel for cooling too. I believe that was Ed Turgeons boat, but that was a few years back now. Some of the veterans could probably clear this up!

Xero's quote:
Quote: | [I have word that there has been a new video put together with old race footage dating way back to '78 and it should also be available from us very soon, in fact we should have some for open house. Im VERY excited to see this one as its all this old footage we really need to start preserving and a big reason i started this section. Im sure the producers of that video will start posting more here] |
Xero, has any of this vintage video surfaced yet?

yes just got the demo's yesterday. I have hardly had a chance to watch it yet but will keep you posted. Ive been asked by the producers to offer comments and then we'll see how it proceeds from there.
My first quick run thru indicates there is some very cool and rare footage on this DVD I have never seen before
Cheers

X-man,
Sign me up for a copy of the DVD, let me know how much and I'll get the cash to you when I come for my parts run in may!
There was an old travel Alberta movie made on the year that Peter Pocklington spit Glen Sather into the Smokey!! I was just a kid then, checking out the movie with the salesman for Marathon Marine and my dad. We ended up buying our fist jet right after that, movie still sharp in my mind since then. Didn't think that years later I would be racing, with my son growing up a jet boater!! Full circle my man!!
Hows the jet coming along?

The two main tracks of the dvd are the 1978 and 1981 World Champs held in Canada. It does have Pocklington losing crew member Glen Sather overboard. The dvd is copies from old vhs tapes - which are slowly degrading - and the history of the sport slowly being lost (so some of the footage is grainy). There is bonus tracks of the Salmon 1993 and NZ Worlds 1993. We did this as a project for ourselves - and thought there maybe some interest in the content. OutlawEagle has a limited few copies - but if there is enough interest we can produce more.
