Hey! Wink
I need a campsite in or around Whitecourt for the worlds.
Should be able to accommodate a 32' bus pulling a 30' boat trailer.

Would like decent vantage point for viewing the races Rolling Eyes
Also would like to stay for return.
Emery

The only decent vantage point to watch from would be in your boat on the river. Whitecourt is seriously lacking in camping, you can try Camp-in-town rv park 780 706 5050 or Sagitawah RV Park 780 778 3734. Sagitawah is the one by the boat launch. Both parks are usually full with people working around whitecourt and fox creek. Somebody with some money should open another one, Paddy you reading.

Thanks DOC,
That's precisely the info I was looking for.
I read the posts in the camping info here and have tried to contact some of them.
Never been to the Town of Whitecourt before so I guess its
jump in the heap and make a trip up there.

If there's going to be some circuit races I might just camp or stay
in or around whitecourt come June.
Cheers and good on Ya!
Emery

Curious to know if there is more than one launch in WC?Also what the closest one's are just outside WC both ways?I know Ft.Ass is about 60mile's away and was almost thinking of doing the trek.Just thinking the launch is going to be a mad house and I'm pretty sure that little area beside get's pretty crammed to?

There is only one launch in WCT. You could launch at the Windfall bridge 45 min. boat ride to WCT or the Blue Ridge bridge, about 30 min. boat ride.

Where about's are these bridge's?Sounds alot closer than Ft.A.I think 60miles would be about 1.5hrs so these two spot's sound better.I just don't want to be in anybody's way being that there might be 2-3 boat's camping and watching somewhere with me.Is it a safe spot to leave truck and trailers? Is one up and one down?Do I have to go through WC to get their,or is it on the highway somewhere before WC?So many Question's....all answers appreciated in advance-CL

The Windfall bridge is upstream +/- 20 miles from Whitecourt. By road from Wct take Hw 43 towards Fox Creek, but not that far out of town take the Windfall road, left turn.

The Blue Ridge bridge is down stream +/- 16 miles from Wct. Coming from Edm on Hw. 43 turn right towards Blue Ridge, go through town, then a few miles to bridge.

Safe to park? ... I see others leave trucks and trailers overnight.

A good place to watch the races, is from the Grand stands at River Boat Park in Wct. Beer gardens and burgers too!!!

The Wct launch will be very busy on race days.

Yah,this goes back to my post a few months ago asking if it's frowned upon to bring a non race boat and just camp along the river somewhere.I don't wanna be in the way or anything,I was under the impression that you guy's head out for a way's and that's where I wanted to be.(being that WC will be a zoo with no stalls @the river campsite)I do want to go to the launch as well(2 mingle and film) but am worried about "river closure"time's and don't want to make a mistake.I managed to take off work from June 26th to the middle of July so I can see most or all of the event.I guess I'm just wondering (again)if there will be a problem with non-race boats sharing the water on race day's.I totally understand if it's a hassle or hazard and am asking for a honest opinion.Just wanted to make this a jetboat week for me too.....I know,I know BUY A RACE BOAT Smile -CL

You don't need to buy a race boat, I'm sure they can
find a class for you to run your 21 ft. sport in eh? Just take
the cooler of beer out first, er I mean pop!

You can launch at WCT if you want to. As long as your on the river at your favorite spot long before race time. The support boats will be heading out before race time and getting to their spots. Parking your vehicle and trailer may be a problem. If you watch from the river, just make sure not to run your boat back to the launch until you see the sweep boat go by. That's when you know the race is over and it's safe to run your boat back.

That sounds easy enough.I didn't realize they did a sweep afterwards.I would like to camp on the banks and will probably avoid the WC launch all together.Maybe I can get a contact # to call and be sure it's safe to move.Once the racing start's it's not like were going to be moving back and forth,I'm just thinking if we have to run a grab someone or we run out of beer. Plenty of good places to watch up stream. You have your choise of several islands for the long runs and up at the top of the loop is a good place too. Just leave an hour early and take a BBQ.

Blue Ridge bridge has a nice launch, lots of places to camp downstream from there. Windfall bridge is a pretty good launch, no problem with a 4x4, good camp spots up or down stream from there.
