Hope this link works.Have only done it once and forget exactly what I did.I found this in river jet forum under the "For Sale".Looks pretty cool but I was wondering what the diff is between right and lefthand drive in boats?I thought all jets were left?heard a reason a while back but not sure if it's legit,so I will ask the people that know.I know most lake boats have righthand drive and have had people ask me before.Anyone know?-CL

Only reason I know is that for a hand throttle most prefer a right hand control. Not just jets, could be any inboard and even hi-perf outboard with a foot throttle left works better.

Kinda curious what the Kiwi's do?Would that be the norm to have right hand steer?

Anything with a prop has right drive to counteract the tendency for the boat to want to turn due to the rotation of the propeller. This of course is based on the fact there will always be weight on the drivers side but not necessarily on the passenger side.
Jetboats don't do this because the bowl cancels out that "torque" steer effect.
Im not entirely sure why jetboats tend to be on the left but it really wouldn't matter which side they are on.

Cheers

From looking at alot of boats on the internet it seems like the americans build there jetboats right hand drive and the canadians built theres left hand drive. Gator Boats build there jet boats right hand drive and there using the same Eagle hulls that we finish left hand drive.

My boat was built at eagle and all the specs come from sonic thunderjet in the states,Its a right hand drive......The only thing i like on the right hand drive is placement of the foot throttle.........its off to the side, coolers slide under the nose with ease, easy access to the storage in the nose(no gas peddle to stab you in the back)

Blown Income - How are Sonic's specs different than Eagles? Just cosmetics or something else?

When I ordered my new River Hawk pleasure boat last year I made sure the steering wheel was on the left hand side. I wanted to be scouting rivers from the same side of the boat as my race boat. My River Hawk has a hand throttle. When I first started racing outboard hydros, the hand throttles were always on the left handed side. I guess old habits die hard! I did not like driving a boat with my right hand on the throttle. Felt wierd....
