On the chevy style starter there is one more place to check for a voltage drop that can be very important. The wiring that goes through your ign switch to the starter solenoid. If you have a voltage drop at the switch or in that wire/connections then the voltage that the solenoid sees to engage the starter may not be enough it may just click or do nothing as the magnet is not getting enough voltage to move the solenoid all the way. My two cents. |

I called outlaw for pricing and was actually suprised that they are only $300.00 bucks.Of course a marine rev drive starter is $360.00 x 2 for a spare. But $650-$700(no spare) is defenitly worth the grief I've been having.Bernie say's he has them in stock.I have yet to contact Roger yet. Will update when I speak with him.-CL |

I had a bad Flex plate which appeared to be starter problem. Turned out the flex plate (although new) had a imperfection which made it out of round and out of balance, at higher rev's it would wobble, and beat the starter, also seemed to bind when starting the boat. In the end the broken starter was just the result. As I didn't see what part was breaking on your starter its hard to say if this info is at all useful for you. I bought a racing flex plate from Pro Stock Performance in Edmonton and feel it's worth the few extra bucks. |

I follow the Bald Man's formula.....I spray all my starters with WD-40 to repel the moisture (every trip) and make sure to use good gear reduction starters. Keep them clean and dry and they should last a while. _________________ Merv... |
