OK bin having some starting problem's with my boat some times it turns over some time's it don't it's a 383 stroker with a top drive starter i tracked with a OHMS meter and found with the key in the start position i had power to this Little module (yellow wire red stripe) going in and nothing going out on the other post (yellow wire red stripe) to the solenoid on the starter now there's one more wire coming off this module (red wire purple stripe) it goes to an engine hour meter now i have bypassed this module (yellow wire red strip) and went directly to the top drive starter and walla it starts. now can any one tell me just what exactly this module does or what it's for and what it's called ? i don't want to cook my top drive starter by bypassing it if it's some kinda voltage regulator. thanks for your help

That's not a module, it's a starter solenoid. Because the ignition switch is so far away from the starter it's common to see a solenoid activating another, on boats that one is activating the other solenoid that's mounted directly on the starter. Just take it off and get a part # off of it and get one from Bumper to Bumper or call Outlaw and they will send you one.

thanks top dog makes sense i get 12.7 volt's at the ignition and 11.9 volts at that solenoid so it's more or less to amplify the volt's to the main starter solenoid.

it ensures that the starter solenoid gets good current from the battery to keep it engaged. I have a shop in Peace River beside Touch of Class and Yamaha ( Bulls Eye Off Road ) if you need a hand swing by if you need a hand. I will be there Friday and Saturday all day.
