Wow what a great hull, I had the Eagle out on Lake Erie this weekend for the "Pottahawk Pissup". Amazed at how solid the boat feels in ultra rough water. Flew thru stuff that would have sent the woody to the bottom for sure and wasn't even really that worried about it. The seats are so comfy we didn't get beaten to death. I did notice I put a small dent in the bow right where the prior repairs were done. Nothing major Im sure a whack with a rubber mallet will pop it out.
The party was another story! We've heard about this place for years but nothing I say here will make you comprehend this event. My first time but definatly not my last! If its not the largest boat party in the world I'll be surprised. Totally insane, like Mardigras on the water. I'll have pics soon but 90% of them will not be forum friendly lol
The eagle drew a ton of attention as usual, everyone wants to know what the heck it is etc
Here's a shot from a past years Pottahawk, I'd say this year was busier!
Cheers

haha its interesting actually.Much like the other island we party on you're not allowed to go ashore. Someone owns 9000 acres of land here and are aparently quite strict about tresspassing etc. We were told at the Sat nite party at a local marina the owners had security with those weird "james bond" boats with the prop on the end of a long shaft, like a skiff. Sure enough saw them twice the next day i guess asking people to stay off the island. The sand bar is way better anyway. They try and form a huge walkway the length of the beach that everyone walks thru. Guys(like us) dig holes and have a few laughs as cute girls(or big jocks) step from 18" of water to 4' in one step lol Some guys get ambitious and use a jetski or a zodiac. I offered to use the Eagle but was a lil too extreme (would dig a major hole in reverse tho lol)
This was a hard party to desribe, there is nothing like it and some pics im finding online are just shocking when you see the magnitude. The bigger cruisers were 6-7-8 rows deep, just nuts. We didn't even walk end to end but it would have taken ages. Despite what we were told before hand you DO need beads lol (mental note for next year) Just insane, see these 2 pics from another year

and looking the other way....
I'd love to find someone who took aerial pics from this year to see if I can spot the Eagle. I was pretty central and close to the beach and had my huge flag out. Might be able to see it who knows. We got buzzed by a bunch of planes including a Lancaster Bomber and a C130 rescue. I can't wait to get the pics back myself, mainly so i can remember what happened all day lol
This was just a great party, anyone who's around Lake Erie 2nd Sunday of July, GO! (Canadian side right by Long Point)
Cheers

How do you leave when you want to go?? Man, that's a pile of boats. You must have put reverse on your boat.

Haha Dave if you saw all the cute talent walking around Im pretty darn sure you wouldn't be worried about leaving! Im sure the bigger boats do get locked in for the duration. We were told we'd have to be at the sand bar by8-9 am to get a prime spot. My buddy had a 32' so we wanted it in the thick of it. They were not kidding, we were trying to shake off the hangover from the party at the marina the night before and get out there at like 8 am. It was a solid stream of boats going out even that early. We'd hoped to rest before it got crazy but no luck we had to start drinking at like 9 am lol What a party....
(btw smaller boats can walk in via the beach, I could have left if I wanted to(if i was insane lol))

and to the left....
(what I didn't really capture in these shots is the cruisers behind the camera. We had my buddies 32' basically right on the main alley people walked up/down. Behind him there were at least 4-5 more rows of boats, insane!)
