Always ran normal antifreeze (green) in my Kodiak 350 with no problems but after reading the Owners manual is says to only run DEXCOOL. Is it worth changing it out? |

My advice, if you are off warranty from Kodiak and have been running the traditional green, then stay with the green.
Whatever you do don’t mix the two as it may form a sludge. Do a good flush and always use distilled water.
GM moved to Dexcool as its factory fill and warranty specified coolant. This then corresponds to why Kodiak also specifies Dexcool.
The auto industry moved away from the traditional coolant because of the environmental and occupational health & safety issues.
The orange (e.g. Dexcool) type antifreeze is based on “Organic Acid Technology” (OAT) and is recognized for its less-toxic properties and being readily biodegradable. |
