|
|
I'm in search of a low hour or new 350 kodiak complete engine to put in my boat. I currently have a 383 stroker in it that i'm considering pulling out as I'm tired of rebuilding this performance engine every 100 hours. Would just like a reliable strong running 350 kodiak again, that only requires minimal servicing every year. Let me know what you got. Thanks. |

How much "performance" are you talking about with your 383? Is that a commen thing to be rebuilding them at that hour mark? |

It's 450 hp with aluminum edelbrock heads, roller rockers, proform 750 4 barrel, bored 40 over, 4 bolt main, compression at 9.5 to 1. I'm not sure if its common with a stroker but it seems every 100-150 hours i'm pulling the engine for a overhaul. This is the first stroker i have every had built. |

There is a complete, used, Kodiac 350 on FSJNow right now. I think it has 300 hours on it. |

Has anyone ran into the issue described below?
My 383 stoker isn't over heating, but it's dumping coolant out of the rad cap like it's pressuring up. Changed the water pump, coolant, thermostat, cleaned the oil and coolant heat exchangers, new plugs, cleaned air filter and changed oil. Put the cooling system, block and heads on a 24 hour pressure test at 25lbs, didn't loose any pressure. Not sure what else I can check before pulling engine. Any thoughts? |

How much are you losing? Do you have a recovery bottle? Could be a crack that opens up when hot? |

Ya that's what happened to me...would only loose coolant when it heated up....took the heads in to get shaved and it fixed up my grief. That was after countless retires with tstats, hose flushing, exchanger work, head gasket change etc, etc. |
