whats a good way to make a pushpole for those beach incidents? ideally something that wonk fu¢k up the finish on me hull. i was thinking 2" aluminum sch40 pipe in two 6' sections that screw together with pipe fitting? plastic cover?

You mean for getting unstuck?
I carry 2 7' long 2x2 aluminum tubes, 1/8" wall I beleive. Usually place them under the hull in a tunnel section and lift/push forward at the same time. Works really well and if 2 guys do it at that same time you can literraly lift the whole back of the boat. It slightly marks the underside of the rear of the tunnel but nothing worse than what gravel does to the boat in other spots.
Not sure if thats what you mean but thats what I carry.

| ya thats what i am talking about~! so 7' is long enough to pry on it? do you think it would work in mud?

| yep push poles, made from timber, with a slight paddle shape but some 2" thick..

That we do.. If you are going to make them make sure that you us a hard wood as thay wear away after awhile.. As we us them a lot thay have to be hard..
My polls are make from Mohog ( Dam heavy ) but if i was to make them again i would make them wider at the paddle end by 2".. This will give you more grip in the sort stones..

Aluminum, 2 inch square tube, 6 feet long. Coated with that box liner stuff. Keeps the hands from getting black from bare aluminum and provides a good gripping surface when wet. Seal welded on both ends so they float.

thanks mates! i will make some. the pics were very useful, as will be the poles when i ramrod through some shallows in the back slough here.

when you throw it due to red-screen coming down then it may hit the deep stuff and float away!

That is unless your boat is a couple feet under water and your trying to pry it shallow enough to bail it out  LOL
