How about up the smoky from where the wapiti ties in? We were up it last year past canfor and it was quite low. |

I've heard a few boats have been getting pretty banged up and one sunk just down stream from the bridge, is there any truth to that? Looking to make a weekend trip up as well from Watino up stream. Have a lot of the GP boys been cruising the river? _________________ Keep Calm and Jet on |

The Smoky is FINE. Yes it LOW and you have to pay attention but like Shallowman said its good till the ice comes, it's an easy run for any V8 boat if you can read a river. The Bezanson launch has a good drop off now and you don't even have to get you truck tires wet.
I was at the Rat Shack last Sunday and there is not much water in the back channel but my buddy took his V8 boat in there just because he can, and bumped over a few of the rocks but hardly at all, there is lots of parking at the point and walk in.
Not sure about from Watino up but I know it can get pretty boney on either side of Watino. Going up from Canfor bridge through the chutes is always runable but would be a bit tricky this low, especially coming down if you have a bad memory lol.
The Wapiti is also good until the ice comes but it is a little more friendly if you have a 8 deg, but I do know lots of guys who run 12deg on it with no problems. Its pretty skinny in spots.
Haven't heard about anything bad wrecks on the Smoky other than sunk/wrecked boats in that leg of the Worlds Race.
It's been rainy here last little bit so levels will change of course.
Keep in mind the Rat Shack fall work bee clean up is Sept 19-20, help is always welcome.
GP boaters are always on the river till she freezes... |

Up the smokey quite a ways past Kakwa last Friday with some little boats. Lots of shelves above and below Cutbank, little intense but a great trip. |
