Ever wanted to boat to one of the most remote back country lodges in Alberta? And visit the awe inspiring Grand Rapids? These Class VI rapids, located just minutes below our back country lodge, are just part of what this incredible trip has to offer. Our lodge is situated in the Grand Rapids Wildland Provincial Park and is only accessible by water or air. En route to our lodge, your guide will take you to many forgotten historical sites to view turn of the century drilling equipment, as well remnants of telegraph offices, Hudson's Bay Stores, trapper's cabins, old farmsteads, old growth forests and geological wonders. The Athabasca River also offers some world class Walleye & Northern Pike fishing, amazing scenery & incredible wildlife. The trip encompasses more than 250 miles (round trip) of cruising through mostly uninhabited and untouched wilderness. The lodge features open concept log cabins including comfortable beds, solar power, propane cook stoves, wood stoves, dining tables and chairs and a kitchen area equipped with basic utensils. The site offers washroom and shower facilities, high speed internet, as well as a central fire pit and bbq, and miles of rugged wilderness in every direction. You may cook for yourselves or hearty homecooked meals can be provided (prepared and served up in our modern cookhouse with attached screened in deck overlooking the river). With so many things to do and see, plus having many modern amenities, the GRWA lodge makes a perfect getaway to bond with family members, for couples to re-unite, good friends to catch up, or for a fishing trip with the boys (or girls). The size of your group will determine which size cabin you will require. Our larger cabin sleeps 6 to 8 comfortably and the smaller cabin sleeps 3 to 4. Extra cots are also available and there is a large grassy yard for tenting, or guests may wish to stay on their boats if extra space is required. Some fuel may be available at the lodge, based on a first booking first serve basis. If you would like more information on available dates, pricing, and a suggested itinerary for this epic jet boating wilderness adventure, please contact us today. We cater to a very limited number of adventure seekers every season and available dates go fast!
