Not much color in the commentary, and I need to figure out the cables to get pictures and video loaded but the news for day one racing is, no racers injured, no boats lost. Not without some boat casualties and some miracle big air recoveries. We completed 3 of the 6 legs before the race was called off due to high winds and rain. Words cant described the size of the waves and the weather conditions. Huge !!!
Snowing out now, deg 2C. People here are great. My hats off to the officials and safety boat crews who stood out in the rain and wind all day to get us safely through these brief moments of terror. And to our "crew" Gord and Anne, they've been great.
Karey, Dan, I'm disappointed that you guys haven't figured out a way to get out on the river.
Dave, Gater says you own him two beers now for not showing.

NOT rookies ANYMORE. Class champions. Besides being CLASS folks! Richard is a tiger in support boat skin. Inside beats the heart of a CHAMPION. And Elaine, we who navigate know COURAGE and yours is second to none. Grace under fire. I salute you both and thank you again for helping to make our race truly memorable. Now part and parcel of the legend and lore of the mighty Salmon-the River of No Return......and the jets that challenge it. _________________ "faster, Faster, FASTER until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of DEATH"#163 "Tuff-n'-Nuff" |

Congrats Richard and Elaine. Wow, from virgin to rookie to class champion all in one weekend. Good stuff. Plus you did it in a river that is not for the faint of heart. Do we call you Richard the Lion Heart now?
We still have not got the boats in the water here at home. _________________ Life is Great. It's Reality that Sucks! |
