Well I leave shortly on what will be one heck of a vacation. First stop MI to hook up with Mark and the boat and we are off on an adventure that could take us to Colorado or elsewhere to do a little much needed jetboating and then off to Idaho to see how we fare in our first race.
Really looking forward to it. Drive safe everyone

Cheers

For the curious here is mapquests most direct route:

Arrived safe and sound at Marks place about midnight last night. Made the same stupid error at the end, I listened to mapquest(!) and ended up at that exact same grocery store(lost) lol
Oh well a few of MI's finest showed me the way at 65 mph, in a 45 mph zone lol nothing like a police escort to start a trip off right LOL

Haha thats a good idea 5H, I only wish it was that easy! Come down to the race and we'll have more than a few, 2 cases Canadian in the truck Wink
930 am and we're heading out to Colorado to do some running/camping. We have ALOT of new gear to get used to

See everybody soon....

Cheers

(Vince, Marks holding one of your cam's ransom till he gets his tapes back LOL)

Hey Man,
When you cross the river bridge on I-80 going thur Des Moines, Iowa if you see a silver/red Eagle that'll be me. I live a couple miles North of I-80.
You can't miss the River, it's pretty much in flood stage right now.
Good luck and don't have to much fun ! Laughing
I'm diffidently jealous. Crying or Very sad

Talked to Marky (leadville) and james (xerophobic) last night. They spent the day running the colorado river. I talked to them just as the were leaving the welding place that fixed the cracks they put in the hull that day...Evidently mark stuffed a roller in a class 3 section and lost his glasses, so he'll be in riggins today looking for an optical shop.

Mark hasn't picked a boat name yet, but I'm pushing him to call his boat the "the last straw" as his soon-to-be-ex-wife will attest.

Make sure you give them boys a hard time whenever possible. I'm just jealous I can't be there.

Harrison

Hey everyone just got tech'd in and registered a few mins ago so we are good to go.

The river is ummm, well rather big! Its quite a sight seeing time zone and tight squeeze up close for the first time. They did not look so bad at first till we got down to river level and saw them from some of the prerun boats. Wow waves that seemed a few feet high from the bank are more like 4-5 feet. The flow is quite high this year and that has opened up some unusual lines from what we've been told. We actually will be running the lower half of the course(time zone and tight squeeze) for the first time under race conditions, well in our boat that is. Im really glad the harnesses are good cause we are getting tossed all over.

Can't say enough about the town of Riggins, the people are AWESOME, super nice and all seem to know how far we have come. we couldn't feel more welcome. Kim and Rich have also been awesome and obviously are the force that drives the race and its organization.
I gotta get back outside and get some of the pig before its gone but will see if we can update after tomorrows legs. Just found a PC in the hotel lobby where I am now.
Cheers everyone..

Talked to Mark and James last night as they are on there way back. They're are hoping to be back in Michigan by Tuesday afternoon, but there is a lot of driving to be had between then and now. I don't want to steal any thunder from the guys that were there but here are a few highlights:

    They are alive
    The boat still floats
They finished all but one leg
The placed very well, but Aluman did better
    A nut-job in a sportjet finished 4th overall
    19 boats started, 9 finished
They couldn't say enough about the amazing hospitality of their fellow racers and the residents of Riggins

I'm just sorry I missed it.
