Sorry it took so long but everyone is busy. This is what I sent to Brian so if there are any changes that NEED to be made we will have to go through him. It was difficult as I know some racers wanted a much more stringent rule package were as others may think this is a little tight. Anyhow racers lets see what you think.
LSX CLASS RULES
For the “LSX” Class the engines allowed to race are Small Block Chevrolet. The race boats must be within the
following specifications:
Hull: Any type or material.
Length of the Hull: The minimum dimensions are 4.88m (17ft)
Roll Bar: See UIM rule “900.15.2 ROLL BAR”
Engine Type: 8 Cylinder, naturally aspirated.
Engine: Chevrolet LSX pn#19244611 620hp version. Other than what is stated the engine must remain stock and unmodified in any way. No machining, grinding, porting, milling, polishing, grinding, cutting, sanding is allowed.
Engine Rebuilding: In situations that a rebuild is necessary. A rebuild will be allowed. This requires the use of factory parts withpart numbers matching those of the crate motors parts list.
All work is to be undertaken leaving all tolerances within normal factory guidelines. There is still NO machining allowed. The exception to this rule is to allow honing to restore a cross hatch on the cylinder walls only, and only if a rebuild is required. No overbore is allowed. Block can be sleeved but only to repair a failure and only with the same type material and dimensions as the stock factory cylinder wall.
Cylinder Heads: Factory stock LSX 620 hp version heads, no aftermarket parts or machining is allowed. No valve seats, milling head, polishing and/or port work of any kind is allowed.
Long Block: There is to be NO polishing, porting, grinding, cutting, filing,
sanding or change to the state or shape of any factory casting, forging or
material used in the engine.
Oil Pump: No dry sump or vacuum pumps are allowed.
Oil Pan, Valve Covers and Fluid Damper: Any Type, the oil pan can be of a
larger capacity.
Ignition/Distributor: Any type.
Intake Manifold: Manifolds allowed are GM# 19244033, 25534394, Holley 300-228, 300-216, 300-215, Mast 501-005, Mast 501-006. No machining or porting allowed. No modifications in any way.
Carburetor: Any type.
Cooling System: Open or close systems allowed. Must use factory inlets and outlets only.
Exhaust system: Any type, mufflers are recommended. See UIM”900.15.2”
Fuel: Pump gas or AV gas. No oxygenated fuels.
Propulsion: Any type of jet drive, it can be modified.
The spirit of the rule is to promote a more economical class that is a step up from the existing CX class. The intake choices are designed to allow some freedom to go for more power or try and keep reliability. A sealed racing engine program is being considered for implementation for the 2016 season. _________________ Mark
