We have most everything ironed out for the Spec-motor-A class. The following is Louie’s last draft on what he wants to build us. And please remember that WE THE RACERS, in the class, have the say as to how the class is run.

In Louie’s words:
Here is the list of parts, labor & costs for the 565 cu in & A-spec motor program & reasons.
This is not to make a new class, it is to have an option in UIM A-class.

The main goals are reliability, cost control, equal playing field, and resale value & locked in rules.
Policing & ease of Tech. All self-controlled. Common rules, common sense..
Racers having a say in the rules & polices.
Race engine built and designed for the class.
A-spec engines can be sealed & serial # as per the A-spec group.

Speeds of 115 min to 120 +. This fits the step between CX & Unlimited.
Torque between 5600 to 6200. - 670 to 700 ft lbs in this range.
Dyno tests and boat testing has been done over the years to collect this data.
All parts the same for control of spare parts and stocking & wait time.
Race support, shared info, all common goals to keep boats in the water & finishing.

565 cu in, Cast iron block. Best reliability and cost.
Dart block with splayed caps,.904 lifters, 55 mm cam tunnel
with needle roller bearings/ 9.800 deck height.
Custom box style pistons and ring pack/H-D wrist pins.
Set comp ratio/AV gas for racing/premium for pleasure boating or hot-rodding.
H beam connecting rods, upgraded rod bolts.
4340 crankshaft internally balanced.
SFI rebuild-able balancer/ flex plate/ internally balanced.
CNC Cylinder heads with titanium intake & Stainless steel exhaust valves
Copper intake seats/iron exhaust seats.
Titanium retainers/custom endurance valve springs/Spring locators/Super 7 keepers.
1 piece shaft mounted roller rockers with spring oilers.
Jesel .904 solid roller lifters/custom H-D push-rods.
Designed 55 mm solid roller camshaft.
Race engine bearings/MLS head gaskets & engine gaskets.
Belt driven timing set up.
Aluminum oil pan designed for left and right turns/billet oil pump with internal pick up.
Mounted oil cooler with built in oil filter housing/oil cooler lines & fittings.
Sheet metal billet rail valve covers with spring oilers.
Mechanical fuel pump/fuel lines/fuel regulator.
Custom built dominator carburetor for boats.
Spun aluminum air filter/custom carb spacer.
ALT/alt bracket/billet crank pulley/alt belt.
MSD dual pick up dis/shielded wires/spark plugs. Will fit any MSD box & coil.
Motor mounts front and rear/Want to make them all the same for ease of R&R's.

All engine parts are inspected checked & detailed before installation.
Complete engine mockup & assembly for dyno.
Dyno tuned on AV gas, with updated test equipment and common dyno headers.

The parts that not supplied are:
Headers, starter, ign box or boxes & coils.
Reason is,fitting into boat & single or dual ign's.
All header testing will be given to the racers, which size will work the best.

There will be a set re freshen rate on labor. Parts will be dealt with at the time of inspection.

Costs:
Total cost $ 26,955.00 with oil cooler.
Total cost $ 26,500.00 NO oil cooler, lines & oil filter housing.
Reason is to place oil cooler in remote location to fit boat.
This is landed in Edmonton, Alberta.
Only reason for price change is CDN dollar & manufacture price increase.
At time of purchase there will be a 50% deposit, 25% in 30 days.
Remainder due at time of pick up. With GST.
This is for builds.
If motor is in stock, total will be due at time of pick-up.
Parts due at time of pick-up.
Please note that there may be a surcharge for mad panic rushes/air frt.

I look forward to your feedback and all questions to make this grow.

Thank you.
Louie/A-spec group.

Just to put the cost in prospective.

350 Kodiak drop in EFI motor
330HP for $9400 = $28.48 per horsepower

ZZ4 race engine ready to drop in no dyno tune
365HP for $11200 = $30.68 per HP

LS3 Kodiak EFI drop in
410 HP for $14660 = $35.75 per HP

CT525 Crate motor, ready drop in, no dyno tune
525HP for $17 000 = $32.38 per HP

LSA Kodiak drop in
525HP for $19 400 = $36.95 per HP

A-Spec motor Drop in with Dyno tuning
Est 800HP for $29000 (all in) =$36.25

So looking at HP costs all the engines come out between $30 and $37.00/ HP
Also keep in mind the Kodiak drop ins are priced with Water cooler exhaust, closed cooling and Warranty (one year on the LSA) while the Race motors are with fresh water cooling, no water pump and dry headers and whatever warranty you can talk your dealer into.
There may be a big agreement on the cost of the Crate motors (ZZ4 and the CT525). I took motor and ALL parts plus frt. And added 8 hours to assemble and wire. This number could be argued for hours but to compare with the “Marine drop-ins”. Doesn’t matter who is driving around and bolting things together there is a cost.

Have a great Christmas holiday
