Being new to that area over there, I would like some info on a couple of nice, not real expensive but close to the races places to stay.

Gator, we've never had a bad meal there- some notable places are Seven Devils Saloon (and grill) and Sommervilles.
You're gonna have a great time!

The best part of it all is that my wife is coming with me, and so are my three puppies. They will stay in the rig except when I take them out for their walks.

I assume you are asking about Riggins?? If so here is a link

that lists some of the places in town. There is also a good place to eat in Pinehurst (south of Riggins 15 or 20 minutes on Hiway 95) in the store there. Cafe/ store setup. Not as crowded on big weekends. Family run. Pleasant folk and good food. 5 page menu!

And that is an issue. On "big" weekends (Jetboat races, Rodeo several others) you have to be patient and dedicate some time to getting fed.

They will get to you and the food is good.
