just got an extreme shallow 18' with the j-max any one know what kind of performance to expect. seems pretty slow and underpowered, engine seems fine so looking for pump info. anyone know specs for impeller and housing or any upgrades that that would help. also what is involved with winterizing the engine. thanks

Here's a copy and paste I saved when I was considering the J-Max.

"The stock impeller sucks if you load the boat heavy, no hole shot, loss of speed in tight corners. Here is what I have done to mine, riva racing stack kit, cone, air filter, and a ygdf 14/20 solas impeller. However impros out of CA does custom impellers, which I had a 13/19 made. On the 13/19 hole shots, well hold on to your road soda, if its a light load, topend suffered maybe max 2mph. I would have to say unlike a v8, weight makes a big diff in these boats. Four big guys and gear compared to 2 guys and gear takes away the race car feeling these boats have. I'm not complaining, its a good boat and don't know if I want to upgrade, to a bigger boat."
