|

I've got a 95 17' eagle sport. It came with a Redline 351 and I am currently starting to install a 6.0L out of a truck and want to keep it fuel injected. Was wondering if others have tried this and what problems could come up during this swap? So far I know I'll need: New driveline/bellhousing, new engine mounts, closed loop cooling system, exhaust manifolds. Planning on using the existing truck computer and wiring and just getting it programmed for a boat application. Any suggestions would be great!
Also, any ideas on a good cam/compression ratio setup for a boat application 6.0L? |

I did something like this many years ago. Base on what I read, I am thinking that you are taking an engine out of a vehicle and want to use it along with the original vehicle's engine computer. I would suggest you try to find a company which reprogrammes the ECU which you have. I don't know the names of any of these off the top of my head. There are many inputs to the ECM used in a road vehicle which arre not used in a boat, so it wouldn't be a straight wire it in a go. However, with all the companies which are swapping late model engines into all kinds of older vehicles, if you contacted one of them, they could probably steer you in the proper direction . You might be better off to get a stand alone ECU, but then who knows if the engine harness will plug into that. It goes on and on. I hope that helps a bit |

There is a guy around the Medicine Hat area that reprograms ECUs. He is supposed to be very good. |

Yes, Herrhauptman that's right. Im trying to use the vehicles computer to retain the fuel injection on the 6.0L. Yes, I knew this was going to be a bit of screwing around to make this happen, but it will end up more powerful and cheaper than a drop in Kodiak 6.0L. My brother is an automotive mechanic and is helping me with the project. He had also suggested Westers Garage in Tilley, but its nice to hear the same advice coming from the jet boat world too. I appreciate the help guys, thanks! |

That's good stuff mohawk, I will most certainly be contacting him at one point on this build. Work has pushed this into a winter project, so I would even have time to just order the wiring harness from him, if need be. Thanks |
