Hello.
The Mexican racers would like to know some details of the race course:
Probably you can help by posting, for each race day:
Where's the put-in / boat ramp
Start Location
Finish Line Location
How many miles?
Will there be refueling allowed?
This is important to start planning out what we need to take, how many drivers and fuel cans are needed, where we should go to drop the boat in the water for a pre-run
Thanks for the help. _________________ Wisdom chases me, but I´m faster |

This is tentative.....but should be close as to mileage. Kind of a quick overview. I will try and get some more pictures up. There is a map of the Salmon River course in the 2012 Worlds thread elsewhere here on the Eagle board towards the bottom of this page:
http://www.outlaweagle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3697
Days 1 and 2 on the St Joe will be 2 legs of approximately 25 miles each with a lunch break/ put things back together break. The exact start/stop have not yet been determined fully for the St Joe. There will probably be an opportunity to refuel between legs, but not for sure yet. I would carry enough to do the whole approximately 50 miles for each day. Approximately 100 miles total on the St Joe River.
Days 3 is on the Snake River. Launching from Hells Gate Marina in Lewiston, Idaho and proceeding upriver to Bear Bar -about 30 miles then back down to the Marina in the morning. Refueling at the Marina available mid-day. Then another up and down leg over the same course for the afternoon. Approximately 120 miles for day 3
Day 4 is on the Snake River. Launching from Hells Gate Marina in Lewiston, Idaho and proceeding upriver to Bear Bar -about 30 miles then back down to the Marina in the morning. Refueling at the Marina available mid-day. We are trying to get approval from MANY different governmental agencies to allow us to have a circuit race (about 20 miles)in the afternoon close to the downtown areas of the Lewiston/ Clarkston metro area. If that does not work out, we will repeat the Hells Gate Marina to Bear bar and back again legs. So another 80-120 miles on Day 4.
Day 5 will be on the Clearwater River from Orofino (Pink House Park/Boat Ramp) downriver to Lewiston (I do not have the name of the ramp in Lewiston at hand-will have to research some more but it is fairly close to the Potlatch paper mill and not far from the Clearwater River Casino/Hotel) in the morning- lunch break and refuel if necessary- and then back to Orofino in the afternoon. EACH leg is approximately 47 miles. Total of about 95 miles for the day.
So days 3, 4 and 5 will all be in the Lewiston/Clarkston areas
Day 6 (Thursday the 19th) will be a day off.
Days 7 and 8 will be on the Salmon (the River of No Return) River at Riggins Idaho. Launch ramp will be at Shorts Bar. Then there is a slow motor upriver run (about 3 miles) to Island Bar. The Start/Finish line is about the middle of the Bar (Google and Zoom in and you can see 3 large Pine Trees-that is the Start/Finish for the legs) From Island Bar it is about an 8 mile run to Lightning Creek (another ramp there). Short layover there and then run back to Island Bar. When the seep boat has come up to Island Bar then you can go back to Shorts Bar for lunch, fix, refuel OR just stay at Island Bar for lunch and fix and possibly refuel. YOU ARE ACTUALLY BETTER OFF, IN MY OPINION TO CARRY ENOUGH GAS FOR THE WHOLE COURSE EACH DAY. (The additional weight is sometimes a bonus help on the Salmon, once again IMO) There really isn't a ramp at Island Bar but yo can get a trailer in the water and get a boat out there. 4 more runs in the afternoon. Total mileage for each day is about 54 miles of RACING with another 6-8 for motoring into position.
Total racing mileage on the Salmon 110 miles for the 2 days.
Pump gas (premium unleaded) is available in every town we will be basing out of. Race gas is in Lewiston, Idaho and Spokane, Washington and possibly a distributor in Couer d' Alene-(they are the closest metro areas to the St Joe.) The Lewiston/Clarkston area (the World Capital for aluminum Jet boat manufacture and some of its supporting industies) is a decent size metro area (At least for Idaho) and have a lot of support. _________________ "faster, Faster, FASTER until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of DEATH"#163 "Tuff-n'-Nuff" |

Gary:
Thanks for the information.
Do you know if aviation fuel will be available at the local airports, or is it a pain in the rear end?
Thanks _________________ Wisdom chases me, but I´m faster |

I will know a little more about being able to get fuel closer to each river in a couple of weeks when we have another Logistics meeting.
For Riggins (Salmon River) fuel will need to be transported from Lewiston or there is LL100 available at the airport in McCall without too much trouble. Have bought it there myself at one time when I did not bring enough. However, the McCall airport is over an hour and a half away from Riggins. Lewiston is about 2 hours from Riggins and we will be in the Lewiston area just prior to the Salmon River / Riggins runs. The St Joe River / St Maries runs are about 2 hours from Lewiston also. At least one end of The Snake River and the Clearwater runs are at Lewiston, so not much problem there if all kinds of fuel are available at the Coleman Oil facility.

Just for clarification-fuel will have to be arranged for by each team individually. The organizers are NOT in any way going to provide fueling or fuel for the event at any venue.
As we obtain info and post it up about places where fuel may be obtained, that info is provided as an informational service only. Meanwhile, here are some!

Hans Hasselkus from Mexico, a UIM official, just translated our program into Spanish. I have posted his translation here-
