Is there a fix for the SS impeller rattle when engine is idling, and if so, what is the best way to fix it.
Pump is an A/T sd309 |

the only way is to put in a flywheel not a flex plate and that will help alot
as it is not the stainless impeller that is rattling it is the spline at the pump off the drive shaft , . believe it or not , its true , as the impeller and shaft are heavier then the counter balance of your flex plate ,
good luck |

The issue is Torsional vibration, a heavier flywheel changes the rpm were the harmonics occur, changing idle timing a few degrees will move the rpm up or down a little. A Torsional damper of some sort in the driveline will also solve the problem, but $$$$ |

My SD312 rattled also with the stainless impeller. I would just leave it alone or you could upgrade to the SD191AF kit. Call Ron at American Turbine he will answer all your Questions |
