What is the minimum clearance you need for a Hami 212 impellor to wear ring? |

If you can get it back together, and it turns, then it's enough... |

I wouldn't go any less then 5 thou clearance between impeller and wear ring. Castings are not perfectly round impeller touching wear ring it will cause viberation in the pump. |

I have never seen s.s on s.s run at .005 maybe .015-.020. to run .05 or less you need to run plastic wear ring material. _________________ Mark

.015-.020 sounds about right to me as well. Sport jet was close to that with ss wear ring. |

Never had any problems yet running impellers to ss wearing clearance of .005 but you never what to turn it over dry. Most impellers are casted out of a 309 or 316 witch wear quiet easy compared to a duplex SS heat treated impeller. I believe a 212 factory impeller wear ring clearance is 0.60mm (.024).

naa harden up you blokes, mofs on the money.
we machine them until they just touch. if you are at the ramp and they are causing issues (noise/rub) a handful of sand or a quick run over a bar soon solves that problem.
LOL i had a bloke, self proclaimed jet expert do my OD up once, got it back and it had more clearance than when i sent it to him!!! |

Blokes LOL We got remember there are alot of new jet boaters that are not familiar with impeller wearing clearances. With that said I can imagine a new boater just having his pump serviced with a impeller rebuild having a viberation or noise freaking out saying (What the hell!). I am sure the shop that did the work would hear about it. |

How did u end up with a .08 clearance on a sportjet s on s? Last I measured was .23 thou on new s on s clearance. Did u build it up to that and how does the pump perform if u did? _________________ THE WORSE THE DRIVE.....THE BETTER THE RIDE |

Duane @ beaverlodge 780-354-3791 built it up and machined it nice and tight , try it you will not be disappointed , any sign of the sunk boat? I have been watching for it but no sign yet . |
