I had the boat out this past weekend. running with around 100 other O.E hulls on a local midwest poker run. And it just seemed that the step tec sports were quite a bit faster than my delta pad sport hull. Even having less h.p they would run with me. Is the delta pad hull that much slower than a step- tec? I think it may be time to start looking for a tunnel!

Yes the step-tech hulls are faster. The hull design has less drag and allows the boat to lift and run drier past 55 mph/ish. I've seen some fast Delta bottoms though, You could work on your set-up a bit maybe and get a bit more.

Didnt inspect that avatar, here is a new one.

my boat is a 21ft HW sport. with a 537hp ZZ502. these guys with zz383's and sport step-tecs were hangin on my ass like I was towing em'. Do you think the windshield makes that much difference speed? I did have 4 people and coolers, but nobody was exactly running light.

That is better!!! Dont think I know anyone like that who owns a Jet boat.

Anyway, MOriverbum your hull looks pretty old and dated. (NO OFFENCE) Intakes and grates and Nozzles have changed a lot from then to now. Its probably just not as efficient.

Yeah the hull is a 99, bottom is perfect. new place diverter and ext. but I guess it just is what it is. The speed bug has bitten me, Time to start looking for something that will still seat 5 yet run 80+
