......sounds good Felix! Thats what sparked my attention to the heat in their, was those lil vents on the side. Watching the Coca-cola 600 last weekend I heard the commentators say the drivers had AC piped into the helmets.....I was wondering if it was actual AC, or just cool air. Either way the thing looks awesome and I cant wait to see it out of the booth. Hope testing goes well!

The roof hatch is on a hinge and latch and can be opened in about 2 seconds, if were upside down in shallow water were getting out from the sides. The windshield is made of 3/8 Polycarbonate, read below from the manufacturer. These are the windshields used on the cars that race in the American LeMans Series. So out of curiosity is there a mechanical quick release system for the roof hatch in place?, or does it require someone to pull a handle or release latch? Wicked looking racer right there! After watching Gord in Riggins it would be nice to have a little bit more protection above the racers heads. I wouldn't want to think of coming out of the channel at top speed that's for sure.

The shape/contours were so "recognisable" to me Felix but I just couldnt put my finger on it. As soon as you said that i was like THATS where it looks familiar from. I almost was wondering if it was an aftermarket rear window from a fastback type car like a 3rd gen Rx7 or something. I knew it wasnt glass which is why I asked, figured it would be lexan or something similar. It definitely looks fast as hell
For the number crunchers out there the T58 is rated at about 11000 cfm and the math is interesting because thats 183 or so cubic feet of air per second. At 125 mph a boat goes about 183 feet/second so in theory you would need an airscoop with aprox 1 sq' of area(facing forward) to keep the engine happy. In practice Im sure you would want it alot bigger because even for a high po engine with a 1000-1200 cfm carb you usually see airscoops with cross sectional area of ~ half a sq foot and a turbine uses 10+ times more air. Starving the front end will increase your internal temps since these engines use a very small percentage of the air for combustion(maybe 30%) and the rest for cooling
Boom: not even worth responding to.....

its not from the Prototype class Xero its from GT3 class. Keep guessing lol. the realease handles are inside but easily acessed from outside, one handle on each side.

First of all: This looks great. Will this boat be seen in the Worlds???
Some years ago, Justin Boice in the States had a boat with an enclosed cockpit space similar to this. APBA was not happy with this and he had it removed. Will this style of boat be frowned upon in the future?? Just a doubt....

The talks I had with our CBF ans UIM reps seemed very positive. The only issue with this setup is getting out of the boat if the boat was upside down in shallow water and this is why the sides are being left open. The roof panel hinges to the back and opens up very quickly so getting out would be very quick and easy. This setup provides more protection to the driver and navigator then the standars setup so i beleive the pros outweigh the cons. I built this boat fully expecting that new rules might be made based on my boat and i am entirely ok with this. This is kind of a first and going forward i beleive driver / navigator safety are of utmost importance and will be at the forefront of our sport as the speeds increase and if any more injuries occur. My plan is to be racing this boat in the worlds, i will not have a ton of testing done with it but i hope to run every leg and get this hull / design competitve in its class. The hull is currently being painted and I will start re-assembly this weekend.

egress through the side only? seems very very risky. food for thought when it all goes wrong up side down, in the current, on the shingle, against the bank/rocks/willows. A double tube roll cage would be safer imho.
great project none the less
