almost had to scrap today. guy said my boat was to loud. never fails it seems like the stupid sh#t always happens at the ramp, at the end of the day. Does this stuff happen up north? To top it off i even had my slip -in silencers in ( for the kiddo's) yet this guy ( who owned a pontoon) still wanted some. stickin to rivers from now on! small lake boaters dont really appreciate the bbc's beautiful song

Open headers, silencers or not arent legal up here MO.
I can sympathize with your plight but at the same time I also recognise that our sport is frequently a target for a variety of bans and issues coming from all angles and numerous user groups. Open headers blatatly piss people off and only offer amunition to their complaints. From what I understand they were a large part of instituting a complete powered craft ban in this city years ago, a ban which will likely never be reversed, ever. (note: back then the law specified an exhaust system was required but offered no details as to what it had to entail)

Canadian laws now specifically require an "expansion chamber" style muffler(slip ins are a no go) and while we dont have a specific db rating for the water at least having that covered makes you legal even if the boat is still has a "nasty" note. The cross over style mufflers that seem very popular these days up here rob very little power and still let a healthy motor sound great without pissing off every second person on the water.

Cheers

I believe the Calgary ban on boats on the river was aimed at jetskis .....some lawyers that lived on the river were annoyed by jet skis and organized the closure;at that time there were very few jet boats on the Bow ...the open header issue was primarily a problem with the fiberglass performance jet boats on the lakes.
