My rule book is missing the page where it says, you can skip the start and not race thefirst leg.And still be in the overall.Talking to other racers this takes you out of overall standings.Whats the ruleing on this?MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

If you don't start the leg you won't be in it for the overall but if you start the leg but have a dnf then you still are. Wink

Well thats interesing because you and jeese broke on first leg Peace River drove to shore with out starting or racing in that leg.So what ever rule amendment you used to win cx class is the same rule i would like to use on first leg of worlds. To cut cost and travel time its a hell of along way to go and waste of alot of time.

Well actually it was ruled that we got a dnf. We went some distance before we turned around and drove back to the launch. It was not up to us to make the decision and we didn't even ask until later. Some times the rules can help you and sometimes they work against you. We have had it both ways over the years as have many racers.

I dont see how intentionally missing a leg because of cost's and travel and expecting to be in the title hunt on the last leg is possible? Doesn't make much sense to me. Confused

Oh I see the point...racing is expensive and that's another $6-800 trip to hit Hay River...but wont it be nice to look back and say you raced that river?..... and completed every leg on the circut? Let me know if there is anything I can do to help(aside from throwing out a bunch of cash at you) Wink

Ok now we started the race and reached a speed of around 75 mph AFTER the start. We started right beside Glen Freeland if you are wondering. As I said before we didn't make the decision on the dnf and if you had a problem with it you should have contested it at the race. We have been on the bad end of rules decisions a bunch of times and they have cost us championships also but that is racing and the rule makers make the decisions. So I am not sure what you are looking for. Travis drove a great season and I think he did pretty good.

First of all, as Mark said, we didn't skip the start in PR, we raced for about 30-60 seconds before our fuel pump failed, resulting in us getting a DNF Penalty. However, we were lucky enough to drive hard enough to overcome that penalty to still have the fastest cumulative time for our class for the weekend.

If you look at the Rules below for the Canadian Series Championship that Alex emailed out on April 30, 2010 to all racers including Larry, Don and Travis, you'll see that the overall Canadian Champion only has to have competed, not completed all legs in all 3 races.

Larry, I don't know if you remember or were at the meeting in GP at the beginning of the 2010 season, but I actually made a motion that the Overall Canadian Champion (which is different than Canadian Class Champion) should have to have completed each and every leg of each race in order to qualify for the Overall Championship - however this motion was shot down rather quickly without much discussion. The reason I made the above motion was that it would give the FX and CX guys a chance at winning the Overall Championship because of the high attrition rate of the Unlimited, A and B class engines/boats. Also, part of what makes our sport so great is that it is endurance racing, so it's as much about finishing as it is speed.

Quote:
5. $100 per boat entry to be paid by each hosting club to Western Zone CBF for overall class prizes split 1st 50%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 20% & paid to the Boat Owner
6. The Overall Canadian Winners will be based on total time for the season for all CBF sanctioned races; this will be sponsored by Outlaw Eagle Manufacturing. The (overall) winning boat will run a decal from Outlaw Eagle (Canada # 1) & the winning boats owners will receive $5000.00 cash split 1st- 50%,2nd-30%,& 3rd-20% & Outlaw Eagle Marine logos. The winning boats will have competed in all CBF sanctioned races.

The rules are slightly different for the World Championships, you can still win your class with the fastest time even if you don't complete every leg, but in order to win Overall you must finish every leg. If you don't go to Hay River you'll get a DNS Penalty which is 1.3 times the time of the slowest boats time in your class. Also, the registration and tech inspection is in Hay River so I think you'll have to go there anyway as I don't know if you can register and get teched before or after HR.

Also, as Arthur 2 said, I don't think a person should expect to be eligible for their World Championship Class Title if they pick and choose which legs they want to run, this is called Marathon racing for a reason and everyone is expected to race all legs unless mechanical failure or something else race related prevents them from doing so. Competitors in all other endurance or marathon sports like the Dakar Rally, Baja 500 or 1000 would never expect to be eligible to win their class if they decided to skip part of the race.

I think in the UIM rule book, you have to travel a certian distance, I think 2 miles, over the start line so you do not get a DNS, and as far as the comment FX 87 said about waste of money and time, you are jetboat racing, and you want to save money and time, those words don't belong in the same sentence, for me, I can't wait to race Hay River, and that's the only reason I will be racing next year
