Hi, I am new to this site and looking forward to hearing from experienced jet boaters.
Have any of you heard of the Ecotec engines being used in jet boats and on their website the power to weight ratio is very good. Just heard about them and looking for some insight. Looking at a new engine for my 19' boat and I will be using it primarily for hunting the Northern rivers in BC on week long trips with 2 or three guys. Cheers.

Pulled a 470 mercruiser from the boat as the engine blew but it was underpowered in the first place.

Is this boat a jet? or stern drive?

To run a sport jet would mean serious mods to the ass end.
You could run any 4' 6 or 8 cylinder with your current set-up. It all depends on your boat style, weight, length. And what your gonna do with it.

I have a 19' jet boat boat with a 66" wide bottom and a 10 degree deadrise with a delta pad. I will be using it primarily for hunting the Northern rivers in BC on week long trips with 2 or three guys.

Your 19ft boat would have to be built pretty light for an Ecotec engine. I would think you would require nothing less then a super charged 252 hp Ecotec equivalent to a 250 Sport Jet.

I am leaning towards a 5.7 litre EFI. I Just hope it won't be too heavy.
