o.k.guys,, need a little help.. got a line on a 429, the owner say, it was built to go in another jet,, but that didnt work out,, any way,,he says its built for marine use,, but im not believing! how can i tell if its a true 429? should i look for #s, or what? and who is the man for building a 429 for jet use, nothin too radical,, just a strong, reliable engine for hunting, fishing, and blowin the doors off the boys? thanxs for any info!!!!

run the number on the block as there were lotsa variations of the 429 ford(boss,thunder jet,cobrajet, super cobra jet, nascar, long stroke small bore, short stroke big bore with both 2 and 4 bolt main variations). both the 429 and 460 ford big blocks were widley used in jetboat application back in the day so yes they are a good jet boat engine.any reputable shop should be able to put together a decient bbf for your application!

Why not just use a 460 and get some "free" extra cubes???

www.460ford.com is where to go for all the info on the 385 engine series
