In a 17' sport is the engine bay the same size in a sport jet boat as it is in a small block boat. My first guess would be no, but I'm sure there is someone here that would know for sure.

You will need a bit more room for a SBC. Ideal from transom to fuel tank is 47". This will let you pull your engine easily. Any less than 47" You would have to remove your tank or take off the lower pulley.

With an LS motor or 6.0 liter, they are a bit shorter and can squeez er into a 46" opening.

This is based upon a American turbine or Berk. Located in a standard position with the transom.
