So....what would happen if you started playing with the measurements? I imagine the cockpit mod is due to the turbine length, I wonder what 2" more or less on the deck would do?

Rob had wanted these turbine powered tunnels longer and heavier for better stability at the speeds he had figured these things would reach. the cockpit was stretched for the turbines length and the rest was added to the deck to keep it all looking scaled while adding the length and weight he was after.

Not sure if 2" more or less would equate to much, my point is these things are handling VERY well at speed.

The yellow rocket now has company as Johns boat recorded a top speed of 139 mph down the Grey river during the race today. This despite a damaged keel after a hard hit on day 1 We were having a great race with Rob Pooley unfortunately he lost his engine today.

Just amazing. Shocked

Since turbines supposedly use more fuel than a gasser, is there a drastic difference between start of the day and end of the day? I guess what I'm trying to ask, does it get flighty when you are towards the end of the tanks and what do you do about it? (wings down? slow down? Laughing )

Anyway, great results for a new setup and tough luck Rob P., sorry mate.

Fuel weight does not seem to matter to these things so we start with at least 75% even if it is a short leg. I always remember a quote by my old flight instructor The only time you have to much fuel is when you are on FIRE.

Just trying to get a little action on this thread. It's now June 11, where is this boat now? Do the weavers still have it? If so why have they baught a new "A" class tunnel from Bratt? Of the racers entered in "U" class, how many are turbines? Anybody talking , or are we spectaters just gona have to wait till raceday?
