Darren called this afternoon...Rather excited I might Add.
The boys ran 131mph going upstream...
and 140 mph downstream !!!
they ran it a couple of times just to be sure...he said that he maybe could have gotten 141mph out of her but he was to excited when h saw 140 on the screen that he let his foot off the throttle...The boat is handling and running great !!
Good job to the weavers and the Bratt Boys !!

Holly Shiete that's fast.
I was laughed about this next idea a few months ago BUT,,,,,,
www.Summitracing.com
Drag chutes - 400 / 2200 dollars, weight - 8 / 12 lbs.
These will not only slow you down, they will stop you.
My ass would never run that fast without one!!!
Maybe Doc could shead some more light on these things.

Anybody know at what stage that drag boats and offshore racers are made to install pods?

Lets see, hit a rock at 140 - launch the pod, hit a whole bunch more rocks, roll up onto shore and smash into a tree, think id rather take my chances strapped into the boat.

Doc is right the main reason drag and off shore boats use pods is that fiberglass disintagrates upon impact. A well built aluminum hull crumples and absorbs the impact look at the shot of Bobs boat after his wreck. As far as i know it is also a APBA rule that safety crews must be within sight of the racers at all times to help extract them from the capsules. This would not be fesable in our sport.

The cost of getting the pod built, certified and re-certified every year isn't cheap either. I think they have to be equipped with a air supply system too don't they?

Really DOC?
Is that a direct quote from the APBA rule book. I would have thought it would be worded........well a little less "truck push".

If it would be worded 'truck push" ...it would include "Sorry we're late ..we got lost"

Sorry DOC. Didn't think you would be offended. Just a little sarcasm, I thought for sure if there was one guy on here that would recognize sarcasm right away it would be you.
But back to the topic. At 140mph how much more do you see getting out of that combo. Is 200 realistic. Cuz that would defiantly put me in the "don't have enough balls" category.
