|
|
Hey what would make a tach read right one day and them read way to high the next time out. The tach seems to be ok at Idle but when I hit it red lines the tach but the boat is running normal. When normal reading 4500 it showing more like 6000 to 6000. Is the tach just shot for could something else need replacing. Motor sound normal not screaming. This in a 21 foot alumaweld with a 351w. |

The problem more than likely is in the tach. Depending on the unit it may have switches in the tach to select 4,6,8 cyl. You could have corrosion on them or abad connection. Some tachs are not servicable but you wll have to look at yours. _________________ Mark

My tach jumps all over the place on my E6. 4500-3800-4100-3200.
I just tap my knuckle on the glass front a few times and it straightens out.
Its been doing this since a year after I bought the boat in '03. I checked all the conections, everythings tight. My fuel guage only starts working when the actual fuel tank level is below 1/2. ?????? DB. |

yeah I've tried the tapping on the class and no luck. I will take all the connections off and check them but I think its probably the tach, it's only 15years old. |

The only thing that is 15 years old and gets better by itself is whiskey. Evrything else needs replacing _________________ Live... Love... laugh...and lie if you get caught! |
