Well good news. The Ali-Craft race boat that sunk during the 2009 Peace River race has been found and retrieved. From the sounds of it the boat is in surprisingly good shape with only a couple dents and could easily be running again in the future. Just thought I would post up the good news. From what heard it was found near where it was last seen and did not drift too far down after it got unstuck.

Here are some pictures. As you can see, the bowl has shattered and is what caused the loss of power and spin out. The motor of the boat was quickly takin out of the boat and to an autoshop and clean up. It took 14 hours to shovel all the slit out of the boat. For the people that were at the 2009 Peace River, you can remember how dirty the water was because of the water level. Also I was asked to thank Colby Davis from phoning Steve about the boat. When pulling the boat out of the river, the transmission in the truck blew up. As you can see, it's a little dirty.

He has two that almost look identical. He built a new boat for this years race after this one sunk. You never know there could be two almost identical boats running in the next few years.

The boat looks pretty good considering, bit of carnage & few dents but at least it's back home on the trailer. Must of been quite the surprise to get that call from Colby...
Just glad to hear you guys got it back !

Yes it's not in to bad of shape considering how fast the current was in 2009. The motor is still good, got torn down and thrown into a oil bath. Couple small dents here and there but there is no reason why this boat could not race in the future.

good to see you got the boat back...from past experiances of loosing and recovering a boat, when rebuilding your 502,replace all the valves in the head, even if they seem good....i didnt and lost exhaust valves right into the pistons which totally destroyed the top end of my motor, heads and block. If you ever sink with motor running the valves get quenched and turn brittle.Awsome to see the boat on the trailer

Talking with Steve the recovery had a few twists to it. I will leave the details to Steve to tell as I would likely get the facts mixed up and offend somebody. Ask him next time you see him it is an interesting tale.

I think I'm missing something. how does a broken bowl sink a boat? or was it the spin out make it take on water?
