we are trying to plan a weeekend getaway with my two boys for next weekend maybe my dad to .we are thinking about going to the athabasca to do a camping /fishing trip can anyone give me some pointers of some good places to go mabye ...any pointers would be nice I dont know this river at all we are from Sylvan lake and thinking about heading to the whitecourt area maybe ....would actually like to do mostly walleye fishing i think any help would be greatly appreciated |

Excellent choice. I've had the most fun on this river from Whitecourt and beyond(up to Jasper) Pretty easy to navigate in the main channel. About 1hr or 1.25hrs up is the Berland river...nice location and has a little camp around there for fire's. The farther you go the nicer it gets..... |

Athabasca perfect running right now. There is so many places to stop and relax. As AII says it gets better the further up you go.
You can launch in Whitecourt / Windfall bridge / Hwy 947 Bridge and so on. Awesome river to take the kids on. _________________ The GENE POLICE told me to "Get out of the pool". |
