Too bad there isn't a place for these Bratt Jet guys to advertise thier own boats. You dont see Firefish and Explorer owners posting pictures and specs of thier tubs.
Went to check out the Brattjet.com web site and got airplane sales and flight info. Thier own site isnt even launched yet...
Things must be gettin tough...

I asked Bling Bling about how he liked his boat, so I can take some heat for getting on that tangent. I am not sure it is fair to say he is posting specs about his boat...other than engine/jet and impeller info. Granted...the photos are great advertising.
So back to the thread topic...for a cruising boat (which will be my use), I am going to want an engine matched to a jet/impeller combo that will see my rpms closer to the max torque levels. Max hp levels are for speed and burn more fuel.
Do I look for WOT at max torque, or about 80% of WOT, as indicated by Alumaman?

Diggs, I would say Alumaman is giving good advice, 80 to 100 % of Peak TQ is were you want WOT. This is just my 2 cents, Some guys like to run the really big impellors with lower rpm, but I like to rev a bit higher and have the extra punch of the motor for running skinny braided water.

Thats what im trying to get out is that it doesnt necessarly take more fuel to make that higher rpm using my wifes jeep as an example it gets better milage at 80kms with the overdrive turned off turning higher rpm. the motor makes its power from the energy stored in the fuel. so under less load it takes less fuel to make more rpm, after overcomming the resistance of the motor its self its almost linear power made to fuel used. hw much power the motor makes depends on how well it processes the fuel it uses. different charistics effect the power curve the reason a power curve falls off is because the engine stops adding enough air to properly burn the fuel added. the motor should be the most efficient on fuel at the peak of the torque curve. so you should be setting the pump to match the motor not vise versa at speed you want to go if you set the pump to run at the rpm of max torque you wil get the best fuel economy. if you dont believe me use a prop motor as an example google fuel economy in lake boats they change the prop to use the full power curve of the motor and they all use the same amount of fuel to go the same speed the bigger motors just have more in reserve or can go a faster speed. 4.3 or 8.1 if you only need 200 hp to go such a speed they both use very similar amout of fuel to make 200hp they just do it at different rpm
