I am in the process of mounting a fishfinder in my boat, which is a 16' Outlaw Lynx. I exchanged the transom mount transducer for a thru-hull flushmount transducer.
I am going to mount it on the back of the boat which sicks out past the transom so no leak issues. It requires a 2" hole drilled thru the hull for the shaft of the unit with a large nut to tighten it on. The "puck" of the transducer is 3" which I am going to router into the UHMW so it will be perfectly flush on the bottom of the boat.

I know of a fellow boater who uses this style of transducer and has had no issues with hitting bottom. His is mounted on the chine towards the outside of the boat, but on my boat if I do this I will be on the very outside edge and I don't think I want this, my chine does not seem to be as wide as his, If I slid into some rocks it may break off.

The other spot that I have room to mount it and is perfectly flat is on the trim tab next to the turnbuckle, if I was to put it here does anyone think this will cause any negative issues?

Thanks in advance for any help.
