And are you suposed to run an ocilator even when you have
a dingglehopper to overide the flux capacitor relays.

Defiantly run the ocillator but ensure you have a couple buckets of steam handy as they get pretty cold at times! Another handy one to have a round is a couple right left push slaps especially when the dingglehopper backs up on you.

Because the starter isn't disengaging come on now
I just figured most people was smart enuff to figure out when the starter wasn't unhooked from the ring gear, I was actually looking deeper into his troubleshooting, something of substance, some kind of actual reason for the loud bang when the jet unit is running at an idle, maybe an engineering reason

I also believe there might be a strength issue (not harmonic issue) with a flex plate as well. It doesn't change the fact that Doggy is still a tard.
When I went from aluminium to SS impellor, I got the "idle bang/harmonics". My aluminium impellor did not make a sound. The stainless was bangin around like a whore on friday night. Outlaw even told me when I made the change to expect this. During the time I was also running a flywheel. I will find out soon enough though. The new engine I will be installing has a flex plate.
We will see is the banging gets worse.

OK, so no one has an answer for the question then, how come an aluminum impeller doesn't have a bang to it and a stainless one does, is it a loading and unloading issue, less flex??????????? I dunno, Phil what's your 2 cents worth, it must have something to do with the drive, if you can lower it by adding RTV to the slines, even if your NOT trying to scam someone and want to keep your boat

Could it be the weight of a SS impellor or the composition of the metal causing harmonics?????

Smart move, 1 time thru the gravel and your cast is pretty much done, replaced mine after 2 months luckily found a new used SS no problems since, but also a tad bit smatter with every run.
Also new to river, used to lakes totally different as u will sooooon see. HAVE FUN.

My alum. imp lasted 1 season. It was a good learning impeller. Then went to a steel and had no issues with banging at idle. I plan on going to a SS this spring. As far as the SS banging at idle, I dont think it would be a unloading/loading issue just because it is at idle. Could it be a wear ring
to impeller clearance issue. Does the SS need a tighter clearance than an AL. Dont know what the specs are. DB.

It has nothing to do with the clearance. It is just a harmonic vibration due to the engine at that low rpm. You could do a test by increasing the weight of the impeller substantially. That is why running a flywheel helps some. It has to do with the rpm and the weight of the assembly and where it is located from the engine. I have run a wear ring at .003 and it still does it. You can notice though as you cut your inpeller way down it will do it less and less.

My 2 cents worth. If like Dave Bradley you have a really smooth idling engine you wont notice it much, even with a SS imp. When you get into the rough idling cams you will notice it more, especially the SS. Boosted has it right, the heavy flywheel helps to smooth out the idle. I believe its the splines that are chattering with the heavy imp mostly from the rough idle. It would be less noticeable with a cut down imp because they dont pull on the engine as hard at idle and your right the further you are from your engine to imp the worse it will be. But i could be wrong, i think i was wrong before, oh no i was just mistaken.
